Shawn Flanagan, founder of Almaden Films, takes pride in surrounding himself with dedicated people of film. Attending film school and acting classes while doing Extra work on over a dozen films in the 80's, Flanagan landed an opportunity when he met Sean and Patrick Donahue of Bottom Line Studios. Producers of High Action Stunt Films, Flanagan co-produced, managed, co-wrote and acted in four feature films with Bottom Line Studios.

Jimmy Laszlo has cheated death. After waking up under the crashing waves of the Santa Cruz surf, he soon learns his wife Amy is having an affair with his money-grubbing brother Phillip. Detective Valerie Kimble, Jimmy's sister, investigates two homicides on the beach and quickly suspects Jimmy's involvement. Valerie approaches Jimmy on the matter and he informs her of the attempted murder on his life. She advises Jimmy to lay low and and let her handle the situation but Jimmy flat-out takes matters into his own hands and soon discovers that his inheritance from his father has definitely proven to be ill- omend.

JAKE MALONE (Tim Halpin) wanders aimlessly on the streets, day in and day out. Once a successful boxer, happily married with a loving son, he up and took to the streets, isolated himself from family and friends and fell deep into depression with no apparent way out. Jake soon begins sleeping at a homeless shelter ran by a caring FATHER LEROY (Bill Toliver). A hard-working, loving man in his sixties, and a former boxer himself, Leroy turned peoples lives around once they entered his shelter. Jake and Leroy grew close but that would soon change when Jake would fall victim to the streets again, leaving it exhausting for Father Leroy to help him get his life back together. Jake's life would never be the same, when one day he returns to the shelter and discovers that Father Leroy has been murdered. Shocked and with nobody left to turn to, Jake has to make the decision of his life. Die himself or fight for life.

Officer John Halloway arrives home on his 45th birthday, only to find no surprise birthday guests waiting for him. Frustrated and alone, with a day old cupcake, John makes no wishes and goes straight to bed. Suddenly John is awakened by a camera man who has barged into the back door of his home at 2:00 AM, unannounced, ready for a ride along. As matters begin to get worse, John is ordered by his Captain to train rookie officer Peter Swanco, a strange and unlikely officer who claims he took his police exams over the Internet. Something is terribly wrong. John loses radio contact with dispatch and soon discovers that Swanco is not who he appears to be.

Henry Percy (Geordie Prodis) is a man whose dreams get in the way of his life. Unwilling to take on a normal job, Henry is obsessed with gold panning and striking it rich, despite it being 1932 and decades too late for the gold rush. His very pregnant wife, Louise Percy (Kate Melia) is left alone to take care of their small farm and deal with the stress and discomfort brought on by The Great Depression. Coming from a prominent local family, Louise struggles with loneliness and the concept of poverty as she is slowly pushed to the limit, both physically and emotionally. Despite his wifes pleading, Henry is bent on chasing his pipe-dream, ignoring his responsibility to provide for his family and choosing to spend his time either panning for gold in the hills or painting aimlessly in the attic of their modest, but lovely Victorian-era farmhouse. When the creditors arrive at their door threatening to take away their home, Henry heads for the hills, once again looking for treasure in the murky creek-beds scattered throughout the nearby, unincorporated township known as Whiskey Slide.

Sammy Rodriguez is paroled from San Quentin prison after serving three years for shooting and killing his abusive father. His mother, Lyla, would never forgive him for the death of her husband and as far as she was concerned, Sammy died along with her husband on that shameful day.Hector Rodriquez, Sammy’'s older brother, was waiting at the gates of San Quentin when Sammy walked out. Hector always took care of his kid brother when he could, and even now, he was the one welcoming Sammy back home. But in many ways Hector was afraid of Sammy who was always a hot-headed violent kid. Hector, on the other hand was a husband and father. He was a peaceful guy who always tried to do the right thing, especially when it came to family.Sammy arrived home to find that the old house was pretty much the same, but his mother had changed. She seemed to have lost all respect for herself and the home he had grown up in. Turning to drugs and booze was Lyla’s way of dealing with life on a day-to-day basis now. But Sammy’'s problems got worse when he met Bobby, Lyla’s new live-in boyfriend. Bobby knew the score and all the players and gave Sammy two weeks to get a job and then to get the hell get out of his house.Hector was the go-between. He offered Sammy a job with his painting company, and Sammy somewhat agreed to give it a shot. But Sammy was no painter. The thought of working hard for peanuts didn’t really set right with him in the first place, and there would never be enough money for him to get a real home anyway.Then, before Sammy could even dip his brush into a can of paint, things started to go downhill. Two gang bangers, his cousin Victor and a new guy, Darnel, showed up at his bedroom window late one night.
